Dutch Landscapes – Mishka Henner analyzes the peculiarly (or predictably?!) stylistic method of censorship employed by the Dutch on its sensitive sites on Google Earth imagery, “imposing bold, multi-coloured polygons…rather than the subtler and more standard techniques employed in other countries. The result is a landscape occasionally punctuated by sharp aesthetic contrasts between secret sites and the rural and urban environments surrounding them.” Only the Dutch can make censorship this stylish. via Architizer
Against Kickstarter Urbanism – Alexandra Lange tones down the power of the wildly popular Kickstarter platform, which she says is better served for smaller initiatives rather large-scale urbanism projects that require complex bureaucratic and legislative processes.
The Edible City – A new animation from the American Society of Landscape Architects that shows how to turn a conventional community into an edible city by transforming unproductive spaces into agricultural landscapes.

City, The (American Documentary Films) – “Don’t tell us that this is the best that you can do in building cities.” Another archival jewel from the Prelinger Archive, this one from 1939 created by the American Institute of Planners, launches a plea for community planning, in the midst of the ever-increasing modern industrial city.
